Git Log to Standup
Paste the output of git log (--oneline, the full format, or conventional commits) and optionally a line of notes, and get a standup update under 150 words. Yesterday groups related commits into plain-language bullets a manager understands. Today lists only what your notes or unfinished work show, otherwise a line for you to fill. Blockers comes from your notes or says none noted. Merge commits, version bumps, and formatting commits are dropped, ticket IDs are kept, and nothing is added that isn't in the log. Writing the commits in the first place? Use the Conventional Commit Generator.
Input tips
- Run git log --since=yesterday --author="YOUR NAME" --oneline to get only your commits.
- Add a line of notes after the log for today's plan or blockers; the tool never invents them.
- Merge commits, version bumps, and formatting commits are dropped automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I get yesterday's commits?
- Run git log --since=yesterday --author="YOUR NAME" --oneline in the repo. Add --all to include every branch. Paste the output as is; hashes and dates are fine.
- Will it make up work I didn't do?
- No. Every Yesterday bullet comes from a commit or your notes. Today and Blockers come only from your notes or obvious unfinished work like a WIP commit; otherwise you get a placeholder line to fill and "None noted".
- What gets dropped?
- Merge commits, version bumps, lockfile and formatting commits, fixup and squash commits, and reverts that cancel a commit in the same log. Related commits are grouped into one bullet, and ticket IDs like ABC-123 are kept.
- Can I use it for a weekly update?
- It is tuned for one day and under 150 words.
