Image Compressor

Reduce image file size two ways: drag a quality slider, or name a target size such as 100 KB and let the tool search for the quality that lands under it. You can also cap the maximum width, which is usually the fastest way to shrink a photo for the web. The before-and-after size and the percentage saved are shown before you download. Everything runs client-side, so nothing is uploaded and there is no daily limit.

PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, or SVG — nothing is uploaded

Your image is processed in this browser tab with the Canvas API. It is never uploaded, stored, or sent to a server.

How to Use Image Compressor

  1. Drop the image you want to make smaller.
  2. Choose 'By quality' for manual control, or 'To target size' and type a KB target.
  3. Optionally set a maximum width to shrink large photos further.
  4. Pick JPG, WebP, or PNG output.
  5. Press Compress image, check the saving, then download.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I compress an image to exactly 100 KB?
Switch to 'To target size', type 100, and press Compress. The tool binary-searches the JPG or WebP quality until the result fits under 100 KB, then reports the quality it used.
Does compression reduce quality?
JPG and WebP are lossy, so heavy compression softens fine detail. Between 70% and 85% quality most photos look identical at normal viewing size while the file gets 60-80% smaller.
Why is my PNG barely smaller?
PNG is lossless, so quality settings do not apply. To shrink a PNG photo, convert it to JPG or WebP, or reduce the maximum width.
Is there an upload limit?
No. Compression happens in your browser with the Canvas API, so there is no server, no queue, and no cap on how many images you process.
