Why can't the tool read the ID from an @handle?

Browsers block one website from reading another website's page. Any tool that resolves a handle sends your link to its own server first. This tool stays in your browser, so it shows you the two-step way instead: open the channel, view the source, and search for UC.

What is the uploads playlist ID?

Every channel has a hidden playlist of all its public uploads. Its ID is the channel ID with UC changed to UU. Open it as a normal playlist to see the full upload history in order.

Do I need an API key for the RSS feed?

No. The feed at youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=... is public and free. It carries the 15 most recent uploads and works in any reader.

Why use the /channel/ URL instead of the handle?

A creator can change their handle at any time, which breaks every link that used it. The UC channel ID never changes.
